Reading Month Activities (19 June – 18 July 2025)
Venue: School Library, KV No. 2 PLW Patiala
To promote reading habits and enhance literary skills among students, the Library of KV No. 2 PLW Patiala observed Reading Month from 19 June to 18 July 2025. Various engaging activities were organized for students of all classes to cultivate a love for books and language learning.
1. Slogan Writing Competition
Students creatively expressed their thoughts on the importance of reading through inspiring and original slogans. The best entries were displayed on the library board to motivate others.
2. Bookmark Making Activity
A bookmark making activity was organized where students designed colourful and thought-provoking bookmarks with reading quotes. This activity helped in developing creativity and artistic skills.
3. Vocabulary Building Exercises
Daily vocabulary building exercises were conducted to improve students’ word power and language proficiency. Interesting word games and dictionary drills added fun to learning.
4. Reading Sessions
Regular reading sessions were held during library periods. Students read stories, poems, and articles aloud, enhancing their pronunciation, comprehension, and confidence in public reading.
5. Book Review Writing
Students were encouraged to write book reviews of the titles they read during the month. The best reviews were appreciated and displayed on the library notice board.
6. Biography Reading Activity
To inspire students, selected biographies of great personalities were read and discussed. This activity aimed to inculcate moral values, perseverance, and leadership qualities.
7. Reading Quiz
A Reading Quiz based on popular books and authors was conducted to test students’ literary awareness and general knowledge related to reading habits.
Conclusion
The Reading Month celebration successfully ignited enthusiasm for reading among students. All activities received active participation and appreciation from both students and teachers. The programme effectively achieved its aim of developing a strong reading culture within the school.
